Welcome to historic Gwin's Lodge, one of Alaska's oldest traditionally built log roadhouse lodges. Celebrating it's 53rd year of service in 2004, Gwin's is built from Spruce logs harvested from the surrounding Chugach National Forest, and is a Kenai Peninsula landmark. Cutting, hauling and hand-peeling the logs in true pioneer fashion, Pat and Helen Gwin completed and opened the lodge on January 1, 1952. The lodge and our guest cabins were restored to their original condition in 1995 and in 2003. Located at the absolute heart of the Kenai Peninsula and along a portion of the Sterling Highway designated an "Alaskan Scenic Byway", Gwin's is the closest full-service lodge to the Kenai & Russian River's Confluence, the most productive Sockeye (Red) Salmon sport-fishery on Earth and the finest road accessible Rainbow Trout fishery in Alaska. The "Old Russian River Ferry", the predecessor to the current tethered barge of this world renown fishery, proudly rests besides Gwin's Lodge, restored by our staff in 1995 and in 2003 to it's original 1940's forest green colors.
