Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse will open to public tours on June 12, 2004. Just a few hundred feet east of the Mackinac Bridge in Mackinaw City, the castle-like structure guided ships through the Straits of Mackinac from 1892 to 1957. Visitors will see a restoration in progress, including exhibits, period settings, and historic interpreters in costume.
